Welcome to the Hub at Derwen

Located at the centre of the vibrant Derwen College, The Hub offers businesses and organisations the opportunity to meet, learn and support.

Situated in rural Shropshire, The Hub is just a short distance away from the A5/A483, near Oswestry. Half an hour drive from Shrewsbury, 40 minutes from Chester and just a ten minute walk from Gobowen railway station, we can offer ease of access in beautiful surroundings.

We are more than just a meeting room venue. At Derwen we provide specialist education to young people aged between 16 and 25 with learning difficulties and disabilities. Students here experience real life work placement opportunities both on site and externally with our industry partners. Our students are learning work skills, independence skills and the ability to make choices – things many of us take for granted. We are making a real and positive difference to the lives of many young people and their families.

You can be part of this story by holding your meetings here, taking part in bitesize training and meeting our amazing students on their journey to independence.

We have free parking on site as well as a café, restaurant and garden centre, providing plenty of breakout time from meetings as well as a range of refreshment options.

Project Funding

This Project has been made possible with thanks to funding from The Marches Local Enterprise Partnership Midlands Engine.

The funding allowed us to take forward a project to support people with learning difficulties and disabilities into work.  We are developing a range of apps to support people with learning difficulties and disabilities in to work.

As well as supporting people in to work, in the future, the apps will also aid employers to recognise where employees might need additional support at work.

The changes aren’t just technological. We have upgraded our meeting rooms at the college and created ‘The Hub @ Derwen’ with funding from the project.  The Hub will provide employers with meeting rooms and access to training resources.

Part-funded by The Marches Local Enterprise Partnership via its Growth Deal with Government. Funding was awarded to the college via the LEP’s Growth Deal for capital skills projects. [vertical-spacer]
