[email protected] 2021 – competition entries now closed.

Skills Live competitions are for students aged 16-25, and working at up to Level 1, to showcase their talents.

[email protected] judging takes place 1st – 4th March 2021

Derwen College has supported competitions for students with learning difficulties and disabilities for almost ten years. Find out about previous competitions here.

The College, working alongside other colleges and organisations, has provided competitions at local, regional and national levels. These events are great opportunities for students to showcase their incredible talents.  We work with independent judges from relevant sectors to ensure top quality competition provision.

The 2021 competitions will be slightly different to previous years.  In anticipation that none of us knows exactly what will be happening with the pandemic at the start of March, we have amended the briefs.  This is to ensure they are as inclusive as possible to allow for the fact that students may be working at college or at home.

The events will take place remotely, which will allow competitors to undertake their entry at their convenience and yet in the spirit of competition.  Competition entries need to be submitted by Thursday 25th February, and judging will take place 1st – 4th March.  Results will be announced on Friday 5th March.

The aim with these plans is to enable competitors to take part in competitions and showcase their skills during these times when situations change on a daily basis.

Entries into the Skills Live competitions are open to students who meet all the criteria:

  • Currently in education – in specialist or mainstream colleges or schools.
  • Aged 16-25 years at the time of the competition.
  • Working at up to the level stated in the competition brief.
